Welcome to the permanent website of the International Symposium on Space Flight Dynamics (ISSFD).

The ISSFD is a series of conferences providing an international forum for specialists in the field of space flight dynamics. It is sponsored by various space agencies, including APL, CNES, DLR/GSOC, ESA/ESOC, EUMETSAT, INPE, JAXA/ISAS, JPL, NASA/GSFC and Roscosmos. The symposia take place at an interval of about 18 months, and the sponsor agencies and centers take turns to organize it.

Areas of interest for the ISSFD include, but are not limited to:
  • Flight dynamics operations
  • Orbit theory
  • Mission and trajectory design
  • GN&C measurement systems
  • Tracking and orbit determination
  • Maneuver design
  • Autonomous navigation
  • Attitude dynamics, determination, and control
  • Formation flying
  • Constellation design and maintenance
  • Space environment, orbital debris and collision risk mitigation
This website primarily serves as an archive for abstracts and papers of past ISSFD symposia.

The next symposium is organized by China’s Xi’an Satellite Control Center (XSCC) and co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The 28th International Symposium on Space Flight Dynamics (ISSFD) will be held in Xi’an, China. Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi province and was recognized as one of the most important cities in Chinese history. Xi’an has been the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, and the Tang.

The anticipated date April 2021 for the 28th Symposium has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The new date will be announced during the course of 2021.
